Building Expertise for the Future of E-Invoicing and Integrated Digital Trade
The GENA Academy is GENA’s global education platform for professionals who want to understand and successfully navigate the rapidly evolving world of e-invoicing, tax compliance and Integrated Digital Trade.
As regulatory mandates expand across the world and invoicing, tax reporting, procurement, payments and digital trade become increasingly interconnected, companies need more than country-specific compliance knowledge. They need a solid understanding of the underlying business processes, technologies, standards, networks and implementation models.
The GENA Academy is designed to provide this knowledge in a vendor-neutral, practical and internationally focused environment, bringing together experienced practitioners from across the GENA community.
A Global Training Programme
The future GENA Academy programme will primarily consist of one- and two-day in-person training sessions at selected locations around the world.
Programmes will be designed primarily for employees of large enterprises, multinational organisations and shared service centres, including professionals from Finance, Tax, Procurement, IT and Digital Transformation.
Depending on the programme, participants will gain practical knowledge in areas such as:
- global e-invoicing and tax reporting models and regulatory developments;
- e-invoicing technologies, formats, standards, networks and interoperability;
- implementation strategies and operating models for multinational companies;
- Continuous Transaction Controls and tax compliance;
- procurement, payments and the evolution towards Integrated Digital Trade;
- emerging technologies and the role of AI in digital business processes.
Separate programmes may also be offered for service provider professionals, focusing more deeply on technology, interoperability, implementation and service delivery.
Masterclasses for Specialist Topics
In addition to the classroom programmes, the GENA Academy will introduce online Masterclasses focusing on specific topics and emerging developments.
These shorter sessions will allow participants to deepen their expertise in areas such as new regulatory models, Peppol, interoperability, AI, tax reporting, implementation methodologies or individual markets without attending a full Academy programme.
Towards GENA Certification
A central element of the future Academy will be the introduction of a GENA professional certification programme.
Participants will have the opportunity to demonstrate their knowledge through dedicated examinations and work towards recognised qualifications such as GENA Certified E-Invoicing Expert.
The certification programme is intended to provide companies with an independent benchmark for professional e-invoicing expertise and give individuals the opportunity to demonstrate their knowledge across regulatory, business and technology dimensions.

In Cooperation with Peppol
A key differentiator of the GENA Academy is its cooperation with Peppol, with dedicated Peppol training being integrated into selected programmes or offered as separate sessions.
These sessions will provide participants with an understanding of:
- the Peppol network, governance and trust model;
- interoperable architectures and participant discovery;
- Peppol document standards for invoicing, ordering and other business documents;
- operating models and the continuing evolution of Peppol in international B2B exchange and tax reporting.
The cooperation combines GENA’s broad industry perspective with Peppol expertise on one of the most important global interoperability frameworks.

GENA Academy is more than a training programme. Participants benefit from direct access to experienced industry practitioners and from interaction with peers facing similar challenges around the world.
The Academy therefore combines professional education, practical experience, networking and certification in one global programme.
