About
The Global Exchange Network Association (GENA) is the leading international community shaping the future of digital trade. With over 150+ members in 27 countries, we unite service and solution providers across e-invoicing, compliance, procurement, ERP, finance, and network technologies to drive interoperability, innovation, and market adoption worldwide.
As the global voice of the industry, we work with governments, standard bodies, and industry stakeholders to build a seamless, secure, and globally connected digital transaction ecosystem and provide a platform for industry information. As a neutral, not-for-profit association, GENA empowers its members to collaborate, influence regulation, and accelerate the transition toward fully automated digital trade. GENA gives its members reach, recognition, and impact in a rapidly evolving digital economy.
Initially established as EESPA (European E-Invoicing Service Providers Association) in 2011.
A robust association with a membership base that exceeds 150 full and associate members.
Organized under Belgian law as an International Not-for-Profit Association (AISBL/IVZW).

Today’s business environment is more complex than ever.
Global trade processes have rapidly evolved into a fragmented digital ecosystem:
• Multiple exchange networks (Peppol, proprietary platforms, API-based models)
• Increasing e-invoicing mandates and compliance requirements
• A growing number of service providers with overlapping propositions
• Constant pressure to reduce cost while ensuring scalability and control
For corporates, this results in:
• Lack of transparency in provider capabilities
• Vendor lock-in risks
• Inefficient decision-making based on incomplete knowledge
• High integration and operational costs
💡 Service providers play a critical role in solving these challenges—by enabling connectivity, compliance, and automation.
However, choosing the right provider and right model remains difficult.
